Re overclocking
I was just wondering if there are any real world benefits going from cpu @ 3.32 GHz to 3.48 Ghz and ram from 884MHz to 1040Mghz
The thing is Im trying to get the ram to as near as possible to 1066 anything over and the ram crashes.
I went from 9x386 to get to 3.32 to 8x433 for 3.48
I tried 400 fsb which brought me up to 3.61 but the system rebooted just before windows.
stock volts on my Q6600 is 1.35 oc volts is 1.432
mobo is asus formula rampage

No, there are no perceivable real world benefits for 160Mhz CPU speed or 156Mhz RAM speed. The difference would equate to a few more points on a benchmark like 3DMark06 or Vantage, or a slightly faster SuperPi calculation, but no noticeable advantage for games or general use.
Edit: By the way grats on overclocking, didn't realize you had bought a new rig (thought you were waiting till Christmas).

I see, I see. Yeah couldnt wait till Christmas lol the price was too good for the rig
So another thing my rig is oced to 3.33 ghz with fsb of 368 (9*368)and the ram is at 987mhz or there about.
Would it be better if I set the oc to 8*400 giving me 400mhz fsb and a clock speed of 3.21 then I get up the ram to its 1066mhz and that would give me 1:1?

intel core 2 processors are quad pumped, meaning their FSB is the bus frequency x4.
at 8*400, that will give you 3.2ghz and 1600mhz FSB. to get 1:1 ratio, you'll need to run your ram modules at DDR2 800 frequency, which is 2*400 mhz. at that setting, you will have a bus frequency of 400mhz and a ram frequency of 400mhz (2*400), which is 1:1.

That's what I run my 780i at - synced and linked, 1600 and 800. Works good.
(P07 is out, if any eVGA BIOS-botherers are around )

Ok so atm I have my cpu set at 8*415=3.33ghz and the ram is set at 1041mhz
is that 1041*2?
So is that ok?

Reduce the voltage on your poor CPU to about 1.39-1.40. 1.43 is excessive.
If you want the RAM @ 1066MHz, you will have to tweak the timings on the RAM. I would advise you read the RAM guide I posted and recently updated. It discusses timings, so you will at least have an idea of what exactly you are adjusting.
Oh, and question Muffen. Why did you get the Q6600 instead of the E8400? You just cost your rig about 17-23% performance. If it isn't too late to return the Q6600, I would return it. I know it sounds like a lot of trouble, but the Q6600 is an overrated CPU. The E8400 kicks it to kingdom come.
